This weekend RVA decided to grace us with a gift of amazing weather. Feeling in the mood for a fun way to spend a fall afternoon, my family, my brother’s adorable girlfriend, Katie, and her dog, Avery took a trip to Maymont Park to throw a football around and take a walk. Although the sun was shining and the temperature was completely comfortable, the wind was on its highest level, coincidentally creating some excellent glamour shots of Avery.
It’s so nice to be around family even if it’s just for one weekend. School is so busy and sometimes you forget the point of being in so many activities, so having your sounding board and people who care about you most come in is truly something special.

This weekend, Olive and I ventured to the Richmond Street Art Festival to take in some of Richmond’s artiser attractions. Of course it ended up raining. But never-the-less we ended up enjoying the experience even more, and in a few photos, got to play with using our umbrella as the rain poured just like the paint on the walls.
I love being able to take a hour or two out of my day to spend with these girls. Olive in particular is one person I could say is 100% confident in her own skin and I admire her immensely for that. Not only is she basically the epitome of “cool, calm, and collected,” she’s also entrepreneurial! What are the odds. She started her own line of fabulous and unique leather accessories called Olive Eli. Coming from Houston, you can’t beat the high quality leather and Mexican influence. So check it out!!
As a side note, unfortunately school is ridiculously busy compared to the summertime for me, but I am trying to get my photos and outfits out as frequent as possible. Please keep following because I will update Double Take as much as possible! xx

Richmond in the summer has been slightly different than expected. During the school year, once students return from Spring Break, the campus and city turns into a botanical wonderland. Blooming trees of white, pink, and red keep everyone’s heads up as they prepare for the grind of finals. In contrast, the summers in Richmond are just hot. Like an inescapable cloud of humidity that follow you everywhere you go. It also rains pretty much everyday. I can count on the pounding spouts around 3 pm daily.
So when Anna and I found this street lined with flowering trees and gardens, we stopped right in our tracks. We couldn’t ask for a better hiatus from the rain and a return to springtime.

My best friend Anna and I decided to explore Maymont park today. Without much surprise, we got lost on the way. But as with any truly great adventure, we found somewhere just as suiting in the process. With streets lined with pink-flowered trees and a massive tower as a centerpiece, this World War I memorial building was perfect for our chill day in the sun. Here are some pictures of our afternoon!
